Girl Scout Gold, Silver, Bronze Awards
The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest award that a Senior or Ambassador Girl Scout can earn and is a national award with significant standards that must be met representing a girl’s skills, leadership, creativity, values, and efforts contributed to make the world a better place. All of the requirements for the Girl Scout Gold Award must be met before bridging to Adult Girl Scouts.
The Girl Scout Silver Award is the highest award a Cadette can earn. It represents a girl's accomplishments in Girl Scouting and her community as she grows and works to improve her life and the lives of others. To earn the Silver Award all of the requirements must be met prior to bridging to the Senior Girl Scout level.
The Girl Scout Bronze Award the highest honor a Girl Scout Junior can earn, requires her to learn the leadership and planning skills necessary to follow through on a project that makes a positive impact on her community. To earn the Bronze Award all of the requirements must be met prior to bridging to Girl Scout Cadettes.

Girl Scouts National Young Women of Distinction
Girl Scouts of the USA recognizes the extraordinary achievements of Girl Scout Gold Award projects by honoring a select group as the National Young Women of Distinction. Girl Scouts who receive the YWOD honor receive many benefits including a college scholarship, being honored at a Girl Scout national meeting, the opportunity to join the National Girl Consultants and the National Young Women of Distinction Alumnae Association. 2010-11 Award Recognitions
Our Service Unit is extremely proud and honored to recognize some very successful Troop Leaders and girls who partnered together to acquire the highest award attainable. Each year, applications are submitted and GSGLA recognizes girls who meet the qualifications for the Gold and Silver Awards. This year, CVG had 8 out of 75 Gold Award recipients and 23 out of 281 Silver Award recipients. Here’s the breakdown:
